For more than 150 years, OSU has advanced its mission as a land grant university by broadening pathways to higher education. In alignment with this mission, Oregon State University currently offers 10 federally funded TRIO programs to help students progress through the academic pipeline.
The term "TRIO" was coined to describe the first three of a series of educational opportunity programs which emerged out of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964. The first was Upward Bound established in 1964, followed by Talent Search in 1965 and Student Support Services in 1968.
